The Storage of Chemical Products (APQ) affects all those companies that store, load, unload or transport dangerous chemical products in solid, liquid or gaseous state. The regulation of these activities experienced changes in recent years. From TEMA, we point out the most important aspects.

Currently, the regulation that rules the APQ for new facilities is the Royal Decree 656/2017. This regulation applies to new constructions and to expansions or modifications of existing activities. Pre-existing installations that remain unchanged are ruled by RD 379/2001, with the exception that the schedule of inspections has been updated to match the current decree schedule (RD 656/2017), although these inspections will be carried out according to the previous decree regulations.

The new regulation (RD 656/2017) implies a variety of modifications of the previous regulation (RD 379/2001). In the following scheme, some of these changes are detailed.

The experts at TEMA have extensive knowledge of all APQ regulations. Therefore, they are able to provide guidance to the companies that require it throughout the whole process. TEMA advises and takes the responsibility for both reviewing the project and legalizing the installation, ensuring compliance with the applicable regulation.
